Re: "out of the blues w/ B.B. King"

Hi Michael,

I like this arrangement. I can almost feel the rhythm of B.B. King looping his guitar to accommodate the add-on words.

Thanks for posting,

Chris

Re: Removed for work-shopping

Frank, as promised a couple of days ago, I've removed this poem for posting elsewhere, where appropriate bodywork
and a complete engine overhaul, may restore the vehicle to a roadworthy State.

Thanks for your kind words, I much appreciated the discourse.

Re: Signing On

Hi Frank, It's true what you say about the Dutch, and the Welsh for that matter, but to a certain extent, this is precisely my point. The events which brought about the Boer War are in the past, as are the atrocious abuses of human rights brought about in South Africa under the Apartheid regime, and...

Re: Signing On

Hi Frank, I do appreciate that Americans would see history, and their assimilation of British culture very differently to that of the Scots, Irish, Welsh or even the English. In a not altogether dissimilar way, as South Africans, we suffered the Boer War under colonialism, which provides us historic...

Re: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Hi Frank, This is a fine tribute and a chilling reminder, to the ongoing violence still taking place in Northern Nigeria between Christians and Muslims. My heart goes out to all those innocent women, children, and bystanders being slaughtered in mindless terrorist attacks. It's quite sickening to th...

Re: Signing On

Hi Frank, I agree with you, that we create from what God has given us, from that which exists in its own right, and not as we would like to see it. I keep thinking of technology in this context. It's as if the Industrial Revolution freed the common denominator in Mankind, allowing greater self-actua...

Re: Signing On

Ah, I think I get some of it now Frank. My brother-in-law's a Fitter & Turner, a master craftsman, capable of top class work, and as a result, is always being head-hunted within the engineering industry. He often refers to Micrometers, lathes and milling machines, on which he's able to turn out exce...

Re: Signing On

Hi Frank, I've been undergoing a prolonged dry spell in writing for some years now, and have written nothing recently, other than re-looking at some of my earlier poems and seeing whether there remained any merit in revising. The last poem I posted here, "Revisiting Greenly Park", represented such a...

Re: Signing On

Hi Frank, Before commenting on your poem, I did google to find out what a ball pean hammer is, and I found that it's use was appropriate in this context. I've empathy for your ideas about the material world and all that it entails. It's as if technology and its financial rewards are now leading huma...

Re: Signing On

Hi Frank, This was a good poem for me to wake up to this morning over a cup of coffee... you had me hooked by S2 with the scrambled egg hat. The poem seems to contain all the elements of a successful recipe. Thanks for posting, Chris PS. Incidentally, this poem reminded me of a news report earlier t...

Re: Revisiting Greenly Park

Hi Frank,

Thanks for taking another look at this.

I've followed your suggestions regarding the final stanza, with an added modification,
that also highlights the importance of time in this narrator's life-cycle.

I appreciate your help.

Re: Revisiting Greenly Park

I made a further edit to this, by amending S6L5 to read:

I am for this evening's art exhibition.

I hope this adds some value to the poem as a whole.

Re: "the sound of cyber-green"

Hmmm. Not sure whether the poem's wired to Greenwich Mean Time, but where I live, Saturday evening has come and gone. So I'm thinking, that this was nothing but promises, promises... Just as well I never traded some valuable Kruger Rands for a fistful of dollars to see the show. I likely would have ...

Re: Revisiting Greenly Park

Hi Frank, Thanks for the welcome and for taking a look at this. I appreciate your suggestions and have revised the poem accordingly. I notice you found the bark carving interesting. I spent some time considering what names to insert there as most names would carry some or other reference for readers...

Re: "the sound of cyber-green"

Michael, a brilliant idea!

Count on me to be there, if the band opens with:

Re: "fraternal instinct"       (a broem)

Consider for your work shop: there's no such word as "broem" in Afrikaans. The correct word is "besem", defined in English as: a cleaning implement for sweeping; bundle of straws or twigs attached to a long (very long) handle.
