The Living And The Dying

#1 Post by SivaRamanathan » 03 Jan 2013, 13:36

Because my brother and I
were going to see a soothsayer
by bike, and because we had to
cross the countryside, we went past
the rubber plantation
I smelt tyre burning and then saw fire.

As we got down to make ourselves fresh
I could not stand the stench of those black fumes,
it came as if someone was driving it towards us.

‘’I cannot stand this stench, ’’ I said ';
the smoke forked its way in between the rubber trees;
even if I had not gone nearer
I would have known it is the human body
that burns thus.

Tessa, poet from UK , wished to see our sacred parchments
she wanted to know the manner and time of her death;
I said, ’the whole beauty about death is its unexpectedness.’
Great men, the world over have taught us how to accept death.

The charm of dying is to willingly let go
for some it is the fight to live a little longer
in the register of death there is no extension.
