After they'd moved overseas
Sitske spent time drawing
windows, month after
month; each pane carefully
drawn, one row of three
12 high by 8 wide, split
into 4 panes 6 by 4.
The lower rank the same
as the top, set in rows.
‘Windows, Sitske pronounced emphatically,
these are the windows’
‘What about them?’ Mama asked.
The school-counsellor asked the same,
‘These are Geert’s windows,’ she replied.
‘Who is Geert?’
‘Gert is Geert of course.’
She paused,
a tear rolled, then Mama knew
in time, all would be well.

Re: Mansions of the Mind
Sometimes more is more. I like the tone. But as a reader new to your work, I would ask who is Em? Why is she seeing a psychologist? How are Em and Ieuan related? Adding some background would help.
