"kindred Spirits make unrehearsed, guest appearances"

#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 31 Jul 2020, 03:58

I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light.

said sister Helen Keller.
She was beloved by her brother in creativity, Mark Twain
who regarded her as the 8th wonder of the world.

When a 9 year old boy, I found myself
compelled to read everything I could about her.
The lady librarians nurtured my need
putting everything in my reach about her,
even at the adult reading level;

finally they had to explain to my father
that I had exhausted all available resources.
(My paternal brother proudly chuckled)

Other than just from my mother & grandmothers
my He-art was consumed with the humanity
that was affirmed by a sister not blood related,
whom I had never made physical contact with.

I did not know that later, around 17,
would come the time to engage
in this same experience
through the voice of Stevie Nicks.

Nor did I know of this rapport with my brother & sister, Mark & Helen:
I received this insight today July 30, 2020
a needed gift at almost 63
on the International Day of Friendship.

And now I find myself inspired to respond to her (& them):
Helen, when moving with our brothers & sisters
through the dark
we are never alone in the Light

that is never powered off
forever turned-on
in the home
of The Our Father . . .

We come from differ worlds, but we are the same / I never doubted your Beauty, Unchanged   -- Stevie Nicks (1983)

I really liked the first 3 stanzas best. I can identify with them, as probably most writers can. The caress line is too formal, and needs to feel more conversational, like S1 -S3. I would parallel more the love/research of Nicks and Keller. It’s a good subject. Enjoyed. Good to see your work again. Best, Bob
