Bareback

#1 Post by Billy » 22 Dec 2020, 04:05

Bareback

Night and I imagine a horse at full gallop.
A black horse that I can't see, only hear
its panting, the sound of its hooves both

calming and ominous, if that is possible.
Nothing can stop him, a stallion, his eyes
a fire out of control. His mane like the hair

of Samson blowing on the plain of battle.
If only I could ride him, bareback, arms
wrapped around his neck. I'm speeding

through the dark, my body somehow in
flight to anyone looking. A flame in each
hand. Horse and night indistinguishable.

He will never tire. I will never let go, not
for fear, but for love, or both, who, then,
can ride until day to tell the difference?

A kind of heroic piece actually.
Two opposing forces giving no quarter

Really like the inclusion of Samson.

I think this is a keeper

Just superb. My favorite lines are the Samson image as well. Kudos.
