Would I want to know the date
of my death? No, I want to live
as if death were a rumor
planted by an unreliable source.
Why count the moments
as if they were a steady drip
of a glucose bag?
On the other hand I could plan
my funeral: the casket, the music...
"Jumpin' Jack Flash" revved up on the speakers,
friends dancing between the pews as if the planet
could perish under a barrage
of meteorites at any second...
each of them secretly
believing they will live forever, that
they can elude a bullet through the heart,
can survive a scent of almonds and the flush
of cyanide poisoning in their cheeks,
that Death, a down and out detective
charged with finding them,
will always, for the right money,
choose to look the other
way
Would I want to know the date
Re: Would I want to know the date
Good image responses to the question, Bob. I may write a poem on this subject. I wrote a short one a long time ago, but no where near as good as this.
