A NEW YEAR. . .

#1 Post by SnickleFrittes » 02 Jan 2013, 00:41

the ball dropped
in new York city. . .
millions of people
watch
as the new year begins. . .

they have a fresh start
to be whoever
they want to be

but no one changes
there is no new. . .
only old stains
being covered by
see-through
stretching
white sheets

the men wake up
hungover
and the women get
beaten
and the children cry
in the closet
and hope that
next year will be better

and the mail man
gets mugged
and left bloodied
on the side walk
and the muggers
go home
to their sick girlfriends
and wives and children

and the gamblers
get in deeper
until they get dragged
out of icy ponds
with no shoes
or wallets

the diets fail
the AA meetings fail
the resolutions fail
the companies fail
the politicians fail
the new year fails

but the children crying
does not fail
