Heavenly Blue
Sparrows, like children,
hop and play,
minor squabbles
settled with sharp retorts,
a shadow peck.
A song, however meager,
multiplies days
like blowing leaves
turning in the sun.
Morning glory
climbs in perfect grace,
higher and higher,
assisted by other plants,
lattice, whatever objects
within reach
bow to its search
for light's
brilliant envoi.
I watch the ascent
as if it's yesterday
becoming the future.
A multitude
of newborn flowers
grab their chance
at tender light.
A choir
in heavenly blue robes
silenced at noon.

Re: Heavenly Blue
The heavenly blue is the colour of the sky from dawn to noon? I like the conceit of the lattice bowing down for the creeper.

Re: Heavenly Blue
Gentle. Very enjoyable, what poetry should be.
Re: Heavenly Blue
Thanks Siva, Ken
Siva, heavenly blue is the common name of a certain morning glory. It’s seeds are hallucinogenic like LSD, which is not important to the poem.

Thanks Bob, may try another one like this.
Re: Heavenly Blue
I decided that the last line had to be “heavenly blue/robes”. Royal blue is quite different from heavenly blue, and I think it works as the title is a little mysterious until later on.
