dew

#1 Post by Billy » 13 Oct 2022, 16:45

dew

i remember your touch
just that one time
not even a touch

a passing
when by chance
your hand

brushed against
my hand
when we both

chose to reach
for the same
lovely donut

left on the tray
all alone
and i let you

whisk it away
laughing
out the door

Have you been reading William Carlos Williams lately? This has a similar charm, as in his plums poem. The ending has just the right deft, lighthearted touch

Well, not recently, not in quite a while. I read him as a young man. My poems just going this way on their own.
