After the Rain

#1 Post by Billy » 12 Jan 2023, 23:43

After the Rain

Coaxed out of the doldrums.
Nothing to cover me.
A child but not afraid.

I wash up on the shore.
Dry now, like a loveless encounter.
I know the number of questions

to ask when rivers rise to flood stage.
The quiet won't let go.
It's not a storm that runs through streets

like a boy who won't ever come back.
The exhausting drip until nothing's left,
could go on all night long.

I really like this imagery:

The quiet won't let go.
It's not a storm that runs through streets

like a boy who won't ever come back.
The moment drips until nothing's left,

I was especially taken by those same lines,

like a boy storming through the streets,
