Thank you Michael
and to Bob for nominating.

Just a little note, but my name is spelled Ieuan not Ieaun.

i e u a n

It's such an unusual name to foreigners, I quite understand.

By foreigner I mean not Welsh.

Thanks Bob. Many more months ahead I hope.

My thanks also to Terence Culleton who wrote this about my poem:

'A key to the sureness with which this poem realizes the musical structure of the pantoum form is the fact that there is only one main verb in the entire piece. The poet cycles a single remembered image through carefully crafted quatrains in such a way that, with each return of any given detail of the scene, there is not just a recognition, but a re-realization. The language is always fresh and musical, filled with assonantal and consonantal textures, and it’s often surprisingly inventive, as in the second quatrain’s reference to “her boneshaker bike.” Every quatrain of this poem resonates with both loss and recovery. The charged moment is fixed in the past but brought back into the present again through the offices of the poetic imagination. The merging of past and present, memory and desire, loss and recoupment is the exact remit of the lyric mode and the key to its hypnotic power. I could read this one again and again—and will. --Terence Culleton'

It is such a pleasure to read such a response to a poem of mine, that the reader got what I had intended exactly as I wanted is amazing. He didn't just get the music in the poem, (it isn't perfectly iambic nor is it perfect for line length) things I sacrificed for the voice and the music. He gets it that I had intended it to be read aloud and he got the small variation of the repeated lines as the pantoum demands. But most of all he gets that it came from a flash of memory which lives on in the poet's mind. He gets that the past becomes a living reality because we are not just living in the moment - he gets it perfectly. He gets that we relive our lives, we are not dead to the past, we don't live all the time in the now or in the TV, we are fed by glimpses that etch into our memory because they are so evocative still. he also got desire, loss, recoupment, only I couldn't have expressed it so well. I certainly will look up this poet's work as a thank you.
