Upcoming April IBPC 2022:

#1 Post by Michael (MV) » 29 Mar 2022, 19:26

Voice your recommendation(s) here, and

Please let us know ASAP if you are not going to be available to represent the Writer's Block -

then we will know not to consider your poems further for this month's IBPC.

I/we will be looking for consensus - in keeping with a communal workshop environment

Which 1-3 would we like to see represent the Writer's Block in the finals?

After the 3 are selected, then will each author post - in this thread - the poem as the poet would like it forwarded,

and ALL the needed info/statements

Ideally, the only poems that really need to appear here are the final 3, when announced, hopefully by the 1st of the month, if not sooner

^^ the intent is organizational - if poems appear here before the selection of the final 3, then there is a congestion -

Until the final 3 are announced, please maintain poems & workshopping to the Workshop Forum. Thanks.

************

any newcomers or returnees this month, Welcome!

and here is a home link to the IBPC rules: http://ibpc.webdelsol.com/rules

In this thread, from the poems posted in the workshop forum during the course of the month, recommend/nominate by title & author.

Nominated poets, please acknowledge the nomination here in this thread.
Please reply by accepting or declining the nomination - in this thread.

Please note & observe: This is not a workshopping thread.

In this thread, poems that are ultimately selected to represent the Block are then posted here
as the author would like for the poem to be forwarded
along with all IBPC required info.

When the 1-3 poems are decided upon, and permission granted by each author of the selected poems,

along with all the info needed by each author:

1/Your name

2/e-mail address

3/statement that the poem is your original

4/and unpublished work

5/and that you don't have a poem committed to represent another board in the current IBPC. One poet one poem one board
for each monthly,

6/and the poem as you would like it forwarded to the finals.

^^ All of the above is the usual needed info as part of the process.

I will then forward the 1-3 to the IBPC finals.

Thanks

I said I would keep out of the selection process
Now I wish I had.
I cannot see the 'X' logo to delete this post though.

Thanks, Ieuan, for both the nom, and your help on the poem. I have removed the poem. As Michael pointed out, it doesn't qualify since it was written in February. Something I should have realized. Sorry for the posting and the confusion.

Hi Frank; Hi Bob:

Frank, that poem of Bob's was last month, February.

Please note: Meeting an Old Friend After Twenty Years has not been selected, and should not be appearing in this thread, giving me cause to compose this communication.

Of course, Frank, you are welcome to voice on a selection by Bob posted in March.

Also, Bob, Frank (etc al):

This forum & thread are not for workshopping. This continues to be made clear in the initial entry of this monthly thread.

Please copy and paste your workshop dialog
into the poem's thread in the workshop forum. This thread is designated for the nom and selection process. Workshopping here creates a congestion, and is not in keeping with the single function of this Palaver thread.

Please copy the workshopping content ASAP,
and move to:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8106

I hope you will then please delete the extraneous workshopping from this thread. Thank you, both.

Sincerely,

Michael (MV)

Thanks for the nom.

Wolf Moon

I have been like the thin wolf
outside our village, head tipped

towards the moon,
his voice as obsessed with her

as he would be seeing a doe
alone in an open field.

My heart too pines. I squat
outside your window,

the wolf’s woeful voice
speaking for me.

Otherwise the night is so quiet
I can hear my heart,

the soft padding of a wolf
in deepening snows.

Loneliness
come out of its dark woods

exposes my life—
a deprivation

that haunts throughout
the night - swooping snows

and flying winds unable
to drive my hunger
away.

Diptych At War

#12 Post by FranktheFrank » 31 Mar 2022, 18:45

An unpublished poem by Ieuan ap Hywel
that is not representing any other forum
in the IBPC competition for April 2022.

At a Northern European City
Sitting at a corner café
Sipping coffee – a cloud of cream
A dusting of demerara.
A sea of cycles swirl around us
Matrons in black-laced boots
Throw up white petticoats
Laughing to see
Our nonplussed faces.
A young mother in jeans,
Her child in a basket facing her.
A Spring sun, shimmers shadows poke
Through the latticework above
The dull thump of mortars in the distance
The rat-at-tat-tat of small arms.

At home at Aberafan
Playing in a Morrison shelter
A cuboid made of structural steel
With wire-mesh sides
As sirens wailed
a fading memory
of Mam hugging, pulling
Me into the softness
Of her breast.
Her fragrance as hauntingly present
As the crump, crump, crump sounds
of bombs falling
Edging ever closer.

Update April 1st re Upcoming April IBPC 2022:

#13 Post by Michael (MV) » 01 Apr 2022, 17:10

Seems there has been less participants the last of this month; and also less voicing in the current IBPC thread.

I plan & hope to make & post final selections by Sunday, the 3rd.
